Of course the weather changed and I put my walking Croc's on and off I went to walk about the city and explore.........
I guess in Singapore if you have a large package..........your out of luck!
Angie, our UPS driver for DDM would love to deliver her packages on this bike.
Sunshine, cool breezes and fresh air.
I really like the vivid colors of the shop houses here. So interesting to look at.
I love all of the hallways and archways and passages in the city.
The temples here are beautiful
This is an oasis in the city. The city is constantly moving. Traffic everywhere. People in massive crowds everywhere, all of the time. Noise from construction starts at sun up and continues past sundown.
Then you climb up the stairs (many, many, many, stairs) and the noise, the crowds, the construction all fade into the background and you are enveloped by the stillness of the city below. The trees hide within them the most beautiful sounding birds which, oddly, you never seem to see. The breeze up here on the hill cools the heavy humidity and calms the spirit. Your whole body slows down and your senses awaken to all the beauty around you. This place holds magic in it's palm, outstretched to anyone who will simply take it, breathe it in and allow the peace to remind you this is more than just a city. This is a place with a rich history, a island with beauty words can not express and a country which welcomes all.
I love this park. So much so my camera, which I had charged in the morning, ran out of power from how many pictures I took. I will not of course download all of those pictures. I would like to share just a bit of the magic of Fort Canning park with you all once again and here she is..........

High above the city with paths aplenty and stairs, stairs everywhere.

Each trek up the stairs reveals another magical spot or another path to venture down.

Benches to rest a bit and contemplate the world around you abound here. A commodity which barely exist down the stairs in the busy city.

Art is everywhere.

Can you just imagine a good book, a warm beverage and hours on end to spend just taking it all in?

Up ahead on the path I catch a glimpse of a Gothic gate. The sight takes my breath away. The sun just peaking through the dense cover of the trees and shrubs. The gleaming white of the ancient stone facade shinning in the sun against the vibrant green.

Once you have walked down the other side of the path you are welcomed by another Gothic gate.

Passing under the archway what I wonder will my eyes behold........?
It seems with in the Gothic gates (2) there used to be a grave yard. A few of the monuments remain. The others have been gathered up and set in a stone wall which surrounds this area of the park.
After waling up the path on one side you come to this beautiful structure. If you have not guessed so far..........I love arches!

The camera ran out of power so off I went back to the apartment to recharge the battery (and myself) and then off to meet Debs and Sandy for shopping (a requirement is Singapore) and dinner.
While waiting for them I spyed these spiral stairways in an alley way and thought them very interesting.
Debs and Sandy arrived and we were off to Arab street.
Beautiful sites..........
The evening was over way too soon and the card on my camera was full. What a full and beautiful day.
My next post will not be until next week. Debs (her name here in Singapore) and I are off to Tokyo for a long weekend. Yes, Tokyo for the weekend,,,,,,,,who knew?!
Until then remember......Santa is checking his list twice about now, so be good.
Bye from Singapore for now.
